The City of Sioux Falls’ Landfill staff got into the spirit of United Way by hosting a public lunch and raffle, with proceeds going to United Way. |
While the lunch was good, the high light of the event was the opportunity to win a chance to demolish old appliances or a trailer. |
The lunch and the raffle to win an opportunity to drive the big machinery raised more than $1,000. |

Like that memorable shrimp scene out of Forrest Gump, if you stopped into the downtown branch of First Dakota National Bank yesterday you would have found every soup possible. A line of chicken tortilla, broccoli cheese, every chili combination possible, and more was all a part of their United Way campaign’s soup and chili cookoff. |
The bank’s campaign is more than soup though. ECM Dustin Strande planned a breakfast rally, where employees heard from Market President, Michael Ness and learned about USucceed. As an incentive for contributing, all employees who complete pledge cards will be entered into a drawing for vacation days. |

Also, employees that pledge $5.00 or more will get to participate in one predetermined jeans day and employees that pledge $10.00 or more will be eligible for two jeans days! |
In addition to the fun incentives for participating, Home Federal will also be holding a Heart Club Thank You reception for all current and future Heart Club members. |

| As one of United Way's Business of the Year winners last year, ECM Melinda Strandell and HCC Daniel Klutman had a lot to strive for this year. They decided to use the basics that worked so well last year. |
This year's campaign goal includes 60% participation and 75 Heart Club members. As of last week Friday, 45 Heart Club members had already signed up and $11,000 was raised from just four rallies. |
To complete their goals, all employees will attend a one hour rally to learn about UW. Posters around the building and the local intranet were used to communicate campaign plans. Along with the many incentives this year is a pair of Vikings vs Packers tickets - anyone who pledges has an opportunity to win! |
